Every hard problem in a school district eventually becomes a personnel problem. That is why the Coalition convenes the Human Resource Leaders Meeting — September 10–11 at Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach — for the assistant superintendents and directors who own the people side of California's high school districts.
What two days look like
HR leadership in a district is a job of thousand-page rulebooks and five-minute conversations, and the rulebook changes every session. These two days pair honest, closed-door conversation with counterparts from across the state with a clear read on the legislation ahead — the bills and rules most likely to change how you hire, retain, evaluate, and support staff. Recruiting in hard-to-fill assignments, leave law, negotiations climate, the questions AI tools are starting to raise in classification and evaluation work — the agenda belongs to the people in the room.
You leave with practical answers you can defend at cabinet, and colleagues one phone call away the next time a situation lands that your own playbook does not cover.
